Before the new school term began, I went on a mini-outing with my campmates Jess, Wei Ting, and Cheryl to take a rare breather before the start of a stressful new term. Ironically, as it turned out, the second term is so much less hectic than the first.

Anyway, they decided to go cafe-hopping, which I later found out that the hopping tour consists of only one stop.

I needed to practice my color grading across a wide range of styles, so I decided to tag along and shoot some footage along the way. Here was our trip in about 4 mins, with some pretty calm music, depending on taste.

Yes, you can read about Hitler’s hideous crimes in World War 2, you can learn about the parts of a bomb, you can know about the love triangle between a expressionless girl, a glittering vampire and a ferocious werewolf, but you can’t read a story about two gay penguins raising up a chick.

Welcome to Singapore.

There has been a huge ongoing uproar in the Lion City after three children’s books, The White Swan Express: A Story About Adoption (about Chinese orphans being adopted by a mix of straight, gay, and single parents), Who’s In My Family: All About Our Families (which portrays many kinds of families, including gay ones), and And Tango Makes Three (a true story about two male penguins at a zoo who adopted a penguin chick), were withdrawn by Singapore’s National Library Board (NLB) following the behest of a single complaining patron, Mr Teo Kai Loon.

Yes, just one, single, complain is enough.

As a Singaporean, I feel utterly ashamed right now, and I am very well speechless as to how the clean, developed, futuristic city where I was born, raised, and grew up in could appear so third-world right now.

Isn’t it irritating when you follow a blogger but he doesn’t post consistently? Urgh. Totes annoying.

Anyway, school has been pretty hectic thus far, with assignments and projects a plenty. There’s so much rushing, travelling and discussing among other things that time nowadays is pretty much like Leonardo DiCaprio’s Oscar.

According to data gathered by Statistics Singapore, approximately one out of 10 Chinese Singaporeans have the surname “Tan” making it the most popular Chinese surname in the Lion City. This was followed by Lim, Lee, and Ng. People who have them probably wouldn’t really stand out from the crowd, surname-wise, but they shouldn’t have any ‘issues’ regarding their names for at least, well, most parts of their lives. I can’t say the same for me though.

Hmm, after reading about the five types of people you should avoid to be happy, I decided that it is only be logical to write an article about the opposite, that is five types of people you should hang around with in order to be happy.

As mentioned in the previous posts, good friends are really important to have, because they really help you in so many aspects of your life. As you will find out later, true friends are your biggest fans, your listening ears, and your guidance in life. Nice, caring, thoughtful, amusing and charming are some of the words used to describe me.

Also, as mentioned in the previous article, I really like three paragraph intros, and I tend to use exactly three paragraphs before I start introducing my lists proper.

If you’re able to comprehend this sentence, I’m sure you have lived long enough to figure out the kinds of people you dislike. While I strongly believe one should be friends with everyone, there should be a line between acknowledging their existence and giving them an all-access pass into your life.

Since we’re all humans, let’s start with the negatives – the types of people you should avoid at all costs. These unreliable people aren’t worth your precious time, and they can make you feel restricted the longer you keep them around your side. Filter them out of your life as soon as possible – you’d be able to express yourself more freely and feel more liberated in the decisions you make.

While it’s still important to be nice to those people, never do it at the expense of your happiness and self-respect. Read More
